HISTORY
GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP – In 1799, when the settlers first made their way across Ohio and into Fairfield County, only six families ventured into the Greenfield Township area and established the settlement that same year – six years later it was established as Greenfield for the green “fair fields.” The families were – alphabetically – Cherry, McFarland, Meason, Meeks, Randall, and Stewart.
