BIOGRAPHY
GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP – Born in Lancaster in April 1997, Ian Strang stands second in the lineup of six boys born to his parents, Dave and Andrea Strang, who Ian notes contributed a great deal of influence throughout his life. Ian exemplifies, “Without the constant support and guidance of my parents, I am sure my life would look very different than it is today.” Ian graduated from the Lancaster High School in 2015. During his youth he spent countless hours involved in a variety of sports including football, basketball, and soccer when he was even younger. Of all the sports he competed in, baseball and wrestling proved as the most fulfilling. Ian’s passion for sports shows throughout his enjoyment of still being active, playing golf, and enjoys every chance he gets to watch his local sports teams compete.
EXPERIENCE
While navigating through school, Ian’s experience included working as a meat clerk at Kroger, and he worked as a part time landscaper for Joe McFarland in his landscaping business. Joe emphasized, “Ian was one of the most hard-working landscapers driven by dedication, determination, and held to high integrity of ethics. Although I was disappointed that Ian did not return to the crew for another season, I am proud of his accomplishments and know the sky’s the limit for this young man as he pursues his dreams. His hard work ethic and disciplines continue to prove exceptional laying the groundwork to his continued success.”

EDUCATION
Ian earned his Bachelor of Art (BA) degree in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2020 and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Northern Kentucky. After his accomplishments, earning both degrees and his experience as a law clerk, Ian now practices corporate law as an Associate at Frost Brown Todd attorneys. Currently, he is committed to pursue his next milestone at becoming Partner when the opportunity presents itself. After retiring from his career, he envisions living in a home near the coast and spending time with his family and owning a restored classic American truck or muscle car.
MARRIAGE
Ian married the woman of his dreams, Kayla. They met in 2019 and married in September 2024, in Miami Township, near Dayton, Ohio. Ian stated it ranks as the happiest day of his life, the moment they joined in marriage. During their honeymoon to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, it became the ideal vacation spot for Ian. He stated, “My favorite vacation spot has become a new one after the honeymoon. I absolutely love it there.”
INFLUENCE
Family and friends have proven to be Ian’s key influences throughout his life and remains so, especially the influence of his wife, Kayla, and his parents. His family and friends that have surrounded him in life have been, and continue to be, his greatest role models. Ian adds the example, “There were times when I thought of giving up on my education, and what mostly kept me going was thinking of all the people who had invested time in my life so that I could earn my degree. People like my wife and parents, who had done nothing but support and encourage me through that time.”
MILITARY
After Ian’s freshman year of college, he enlisted, admitting he primarily did because he was a poor student and wanted something to stand out on his résumé as a backup in case school didn’t work out for him. Ian served as military police in the United States Marine Corp. Reserves. Before leaving a couple of years ago, he ranked as a Sergeant. When asked if he misses military life, he always offers the answer, “I don’t miss the job at all, but I miss a few of the people quite a bit. Some of the best friendships I have ever made were while serving.” Life seems to always initiate curve balls and Ian remains no stranger to this. He mentioned before he and Kayla were engaged the military activated his Reserve unit and sent him to Cuba. It separated him and Kayla for nine months. It was through the distance of time and space that forced them to focus on their relationship. As they endured the time and successfully navigated the space away from each other it became a large reason that Ian knew they would marry and build a future together.
LEGACY
As success travels over the landscape of Ian’s life, both personally and professionally, Ian shared, “The most accomplished I have ever felt shares in a three-way tie: It was returning to college to earn my degree, graduating law school Summa Cum Laude, and passing the Bar exam.” These three, coupled with his marriage to Kayla, serve as the greatest defining moments of his life and when he became overwhelmed with joy. Ian wants people to remember him as someone who always gave back, always chose kindness as his default. He mentioned, “I just hope I genuinely had a positive impact on people, that would be enough for me to leave this world feeling satisfied and at peace.” He adds a piece of advice for future generations rising up behind him, “Choose kindness whenever possible. It is easier and has much higher ROI (return on investment) than being a jerk.” The Legacy Ian wants to leave behind embraces, “Nobody is guaranteed another day in life, and accomplishments eventually become buried in the annals of history, so I hope I just generally made my community a better place while I was here and left a positive impact on people.” Greenfield Township ranks as Ian’s favorite township in Fairfield County as he remains partial to it as he was raised there.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
During the time I knew Ian, he always displayed passion, discipline, and pushed hard to obtain what he strived to achieve. I am honored to have had the opportunity to interview him and be able to display the story of his life here thus far. I know the best is yet to come for this bright young man, for his wife, and his family. He truly lives a legacy daily. On behalf of us at The Far-Land Legacy, thank you for defining what a legacy truly is, and thank you tremendously for your service to this country.
There are times people come into your life, and you realize they are going to go places, and it is a whole other experience when you actually get to see those places come into those people’s lives. Ian is one of those people for me.
