DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Travel west down Winchester Road NW and turn right on Amanda-Northern Road NW. This cemetery is tricky to get to as Amanda-Northern Road is a two lane dead-end road. Once the turn is made, the cemetery is on the left. There is nowhere to pull over or park. Once arrived at the cemetery, journey toward the back of the flat landscape and veer to the left where a path leads down an embankment and up a hill leading to the gravesite.

THE HISTORY

Established in 1807, this 1.76-acre cemetery remains the final resting place of the pioneer who laid out the town of Jefferson. The last burial was made in 1914. Hoshor explained there were 37 graves in 1984. The Find A Grave site shows 32 profiles. Boivin Hoshor stands proud next to his ancestors. He worked with his family to clear the brush in 1984 in preparation of setting up a family reunion where a tour of the cemetery remains part of the itinerary.
